With a lot of old friends, conversation seems to die after you find out what they do, where they've been, and how their family is doing.

There was one pastor that offered $20 to non church goers if they would go to church for 6 weeks in a row. 80% of participants became members.

Blogs are for more in-depth coverage. You can't always control conversation. Can be bad if someone is angry, but you can openly deal with issues people have.

Lutheran hour. Walter was first speaker in 1930.1906, first broadcast was him on a violin playing oh holy night. Harding Cox election.
Early on, NBC gave free air time to "the three religions on America; Catholic, prodestant, and Jewish. We had to share with ....cabin, a prodestant broadcast. Another radio station, CBS, gave us a spot Thursday nights. They almost stopped it. The people in New York said the sermons could only be 15 minutes long. Mail started pouring in due to the novelty of a sermon Midwest. Eventually the people at CBS said, you can speak as long as you want, due to the public support.

The Lutheran Hour was off the air for a few years, but the idea whenever lost. 1931 to 1935.

The announcer introducing the Lutheran Hour was the Lone Ranger's voice for a while.

It was the largest religious mail receiver radio broadcast from 1935 on... (if I heard right)

Ephesians 2:18
Romans 1:8

The Holy Spirit is what calls us
1 Corinthians 12:3

You can't separate the trinity because they are of one mind and one intent. They are different in their functionality.

John 10:14 -Jesus knows His sheep just as the Father knows Him.

Apart from Jesus, we can't know God.
John 14:8+ Jesus is united with the Father in intent and belief. Jesus reveals God the Father.

Jesus reveals the love of God.
1 John 3:16
1 John 4:10

Jesus is the mediator for us to reach God.
1 Timothy....

We end prayers in "Jesus' name" because He is only our father through Jesus and Jesus is our mediator to God the Father.

What if there was someone that leaked information to someone on the other team, like an attack will occur on August 20th. Well, if the person that believed that tip and did everything to proclaim it and people believed the person that received that tip, but then the source says, "Never mind. They called off the attack." The recipient is put in an awkward position. People may not believe him anymore. He can't say, well, the info was correct. There was no attack. The good intentioned informant may need to find another person to leak information to... or at least another face to proclaim it. Good intentioned people can loose credibility if their source changes or original info is incorrect. How sure should you be if you were to leak information to not risk loosing credibility, but not too late to not make a difference?

Religious tie: we don't need to worry about our informant changing His mind and making us look bad. Teach what is written (within context), and you will be correct.

Conversation a pastor had with an untouched couple... paraphrased:

Couple: we aren't in a congregation because with so many congregations, we don't know which one is right. It would be nice, with so many religions, if the true religion had someone come to earth and let us know which one to believe?
Pastor: He may not be liked, people may not believe him. He may even be killed! I bet if he came during the Roman Empire, they would have crucified him.

What did Jesus do on Earth?
Established a ministry.
Conquered the devil.
Rectified the church.
Revealed God.

A scholar for Mesopotamia was a genius. He was asked what he believed about a God. He said that there is one creator. But that he is not a Christian because Christians are arrogant thinking the creator cares about puny creatures like us.

How do we know God cares about us? Jesus' ministry, miracles, message, the love He showed us, the complex nature of creation,

Why publicly be a Christian? Matthew 10:32
Mark 8:38
John 12:42-43
Romans 10:9-10

Context: The country doesn't know if President Obama is a Christian

TR was listening to a Tony Hawk sound track. One of the indistinguishable lyrics was "Running in the "cy-ca-lone", but may have been "running in the "sack alone" as in a three legged race dragging someone else. That would make more sense than the cyclone or an innuendo.

Use the national archives to trace immigration history of relatives.

Joseph Pulitzer raised money from Americans to build the foundation for the Statue of Liberty onto of the fort here. He tries making his rich friends donate to liberty, but they disliked himaftrr that. So Pulitzer changed the name of his newspaper to a global name from regional name and publishes the names of people that donated any amount of money. 8 year olds raised a majority of the money by sending in coins they picked up off the street. When a child's name was published, relatives bought more papers... I like this concept.

You can call www.statuecruises.com to reserve admission to get into the pedestal and for $3 more get into the crown. Sometimes there are cancellations. Only the first 100 tickets at battery park can get pedistal access to see the museum. No tickets are sold on the island. If you get the $12 pass on the same day, you will only be able to get a tour from a tour guide around the island. Tours are onthe hour. -according to the tour guide

If you order your Ellis Island tickets in advance, you get to go one shorter line than if you order them the same day on a flex pass that you purchase on site.

Special tickets go go up in the statue of liberty's crown can be purchased online. There is a few month wait though.

I tried getting as much information as I could when picked up the pass at Madam Tussels...or something like that...near Ripley's that my uncle ordered (accidentally in his name) from www.citysightsny.com. They gave me a pass for "the ferry", a bus tour, and a Museum of New York City pass. It wasn't until today that I realized that he had forgotten to include the pass for Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty which was part of my package. I didn't think to confirm I had the statue of liberty receipt as well. I learned what I had do to get to the statue of liberty today, where the tent was, and that the earlier the better. Lines get long fast. First boat leaves at 8:30 am. I tried to get up at 6 am, but couldn't wake up until 6:40 am. I got on Google maps, and ran to catch a bus.  I talked to a 20 year old whose parents moved back to Columbia so she moved in with her 23 year old boyfriend to stay in New York. She said ifshe'd get a car, it would be a Honda because they are easy to upgrade and race. Google had me transfer to a train, which I got on for free. I was pleasantly surprised that leather seats were free. Then an attendant asked for my rail pass. I thought it was part of the metro system.  It wasn't. In fact, purchasing a ticket on the train instead of beforehand costs more. There went $8, but an experience was gained. A young looking thin parallel satvnext to meandering helped me out. She looked 25 but was really 35. She said it's her genetics. Her mom is German, her dad was adopted...but claimed to be Italian.
When I got the the boat site line around 9:30? I then tried to pull out my ticket for a ferry other than the sightseeing ferry. It wasn't in my wallet with the other receipt style tickets. I got out of line, looked up the number city sights and we concluded that the guy had processed the wrong pass and not given me the Ellis island ferry pass. She told me to go to the nearest ticket booth-which was in Times square. I said that would waste my day. I asked if I could get them to reimburse me.

By cracking down on minor crimes, by enforcing quality of life crimes-like squeegee men that poured soap on your windshield and offered to wash it off for a dollar, the police fingerprint them and held them until results came back. A small percentage of the minor criminals turned out to be the major criminals that had eluded the police. The fingerprints matched those at crime scenes, and the city turned into one of the safest big cities. Previous mayors said they had to keep the police force working on major crimes.

I was able to comadeer a 17" 1280 x 1024 flat panel monitor. I didn't care for the resolution. It didn't display much more than my 13" laptop screen- 1280 x 800. Another guy in the office has a 1680 x 1050 22" monitor connected to his laptop. The other uses his mbp's screen, which is pretty decent. Well I went home and got a spare 17" crt monitor that had a resolution of 1600 x 1200. I like it, but the light from it seems harsher on my eyes than a flat panel lcd or led screen. I was somewhat surprised to realize I had a higher resolution screen than my co-worker. I like the fact that the screen is condensed. It allows me to see the entire screen without turning my head. It also allows for me to have two windows open side by side and still see a majority of both. Alas, while I enjoyed laughing with my coworkers about having a crt monitor at the front desk, and that most of the computers here are more than 4 years old, one of them said we had to have a flat panel monitor at the front desk. I assume for image. I like having a better resolution monitor. I have a 1920 x 1080 at home that I bought for under $200... then bought again after it fell over and cracked a third of the screen for $135 on eBay. It's not condensed enough. Is like it more as a monitor if it was smaller. But yeah, I brought in a crt to hook up to my laptop. Who does that?
