What if there was someone that leaked information to someone on the other team, like an attack will occur on August 20th. Well, if the person that believed that tip and did everything to proclaim it and people believed the person that received that tip, but then the source says, "Never mind. They called off the attack." The recipient is put in an awkward position. People may not believe him anymore. He can't say, well, the info was correct. There was no attack. The good intentioned informant may need to find another person to leak information to... or at least another face to proclaim it. Good intentioned people can loose credibility if their source changes or original info is incorrect. How sure should you be if you were to leak information to not risk loosing credibility, but not too late to not make a difference?
Religious tie: we don't need to worry about our informant changing His mind and making us look bad. Teach what is written (within context), and you will be correct.
Conversation a pastor had with an untouched couple... paraphrased:
Couple: we aren't in a congregation because with so many congregations, we don't know which one is right. It would be nice, with so many religions, if the true religion had someone come to earth and let us know which one to believe?
Pastor: He may not be liked, people may not believe him. He may even be killed! I bet if he came during the Roman Empire, they would have crucified him.
