I was able to comadeer a 17" 1280 x 1024 flat panel monitor. I didn't care for the resolution. It didn't display much more than my 13" laptop screen- 1280 x 800. Another guy in the office has a 1680 x 1050 22" monitor connected to his laptop. The other uses his mbp's screen, which is pretty decent. Well I went home and got a spare 17" crt monitor that had a resolution of 1600 x 1200. I like it, but the light from it seems harsher on my eyes than a flat panel lcd or led screen. I was somewhat surprised to realize I had a higher resolution screen than my co-worker. I like the fact that the screen is condensed. It allows me to see the entire screen without turning my head. It also allows for me to have two windows open side by side and still see a majority of both. Alas, while I enjoyed laughing with my coworkers about having a crt monitor at the front desk, and that most of the computers here are more than 4 years old, one of them said we had to have a flat panel monitor at the front desk. I assume for image. I like having a better resolution monitor. I have a 1920 x 1080 at home that I bought for under $200... then bought again after it fell over and cracked a third of the screen for $135 on eBay. It's not condensed enough. Is like it more as a monitor if it was smaller. But yeah, I brought in a crt to hook up to my laptop. Who does that?
