I heard a tune that was referenced in a show. It mad me think of another tune that was similar from when I was younger. I suddenly suddenly started singing about the gears in the table my mom and I cleaned out. We had to pull the two sides apart to pull out the expandable leaf.
As I sang, the tune was sorrowful but hopeful. The rest of the lyrics kind of fell into place within the next half hour.
The concept is that a therapist (or perhaps like the prophet that talked in symbols to Kind David) is talking to a parent about their problemed child. She was emotionally neglected, which can probably be easy to do as an adult with different priorities than a child. While I'd like to raise my child with my initial idea of quality time, I must realize that her idea of quality time will be different because she has not had the experiences I have. I am not talking about vacations to Hawaii, but rather, seeing what it is like to use all five of your senses in a forest. Watching people get bullied. Getting bullied. Stopping bullies. Seeing what things are almost vain to attempt, and which ones have merit. Wisdom is gained by exposure to things. You have to make sure children have exposure to things that can help them positively grow.
Here are the lyrics. Do lyrics to a tune make it a song?
Inspired by the
Here comes the moon? I recorded it. Maybe a Phillip Glass song
Look at this table with all of it’s features
It is expandable with several wide leafs
that lock into place at the turn of two levers
the gears sometimes stick if they’re not cleaned in years
Do. Do you know. How it feels
To be neglected
and just
like those gears
she’s unclean
Her emotions surround her.
with whimsical tales.
with dragons and ponies.
they never stop moving. --slow down-----
there’s some kind of turmoil
That’s never concluding
You
are the cause
of this fear
moving too swiftly to hear
her small voice
in the wind
asking some questions
of you
Stop
Tell me what
do you hear...
